Mrs Risikat Abdulwasiu is a 30-year-old mother of two that was driven out of her matrimonial home by the parents of her husband because she had children born with blue eyes.
She became a social media sensation after a video clip where she narrated her experience went viral. Many have reacted to her story by affirming her beauty and declaring their support.
Wife of Kwara State Governor, Mrs Olufolake Abdulrazaq has also extended a helping hand to the blue-eyed Kwara mom who is now solely responsible for the upkeep of her two children.
A consultant ophthalmologist, Dr Dupe Ademola-Popoola and the Ophthalmologist Society of Nigeria, Kwara chapter have been praised by the Kwara Government for their efforts in assisting the indigent blue-eyed woman.
A statement by Dr Raji Razak, Commissioner for Health, said ‘The team’s action came at a time when it was so crucial and a medically realistic solution was needed as information base for further support, socially and financially from necessary quarters.
“Government is better informed about the woman in question and we hope to build on this relationship to deliver effective healthcare to the good people of the state,’’ he told NAN
