Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Daniel Pondei, seems to have fainted as the House of Representatives committee on NDDC grilled him on Monday.
The committee investigating alleged financial misappropriation at the agency is in its fourth day of public hearing.
Throughout the controversy, strong allegations of corruption were traded between the former MD of the NDDC, Joi Nunei, and the Minister.
After being questioned for over an hour, Pondei slowly slumped over his desk, like he’s losing consciousness.
Immediately he was spotted, several people at the hearing rushed to his aid, propping him up and trying to stabilize him which halted the proceedings.
The development led to a quick discussion on the next step to take. The session has been adjourned after the Deputy Chairman of the Committee called for a 30-minute recess.
This is not the first time the appearance of the NDDC MD before the investigative panel will come to a halt due to dramatic circumstances.
Daniel Pondei had walked out on the lawmakers on Thursday, last week, after he accused the Chairman of the Committee, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, of being an interested party in the investigation.
