New Zealand’s government is set to lift all Covid-19 restrictions, but it’s border will still be closed to foreigners. The country has switched to level one which is the lowest of a four-tier alert system as it’s reported no new Covid-19 cases for over two weeks.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who told reporters she did “a little dance” when she was got the update claimed “We are ready,” and praised New Zealanders who had “united in unprecedented ways to crush the virus.”
Ms Ardern said, “While we’re in a safer, stronger position, there’s still no easy path back to pre-Covid life, but the determination and focus we have had on our health response will now be vested in our economic rebuild,”
“While the job is not done, there is no denying this is a milestone. So can I finish with a very simple, ‘Thank you, New Zealand’.”
